Majestic-12 : DSearch : Download!

In order to join distributed search engine project you need to download and install client software called MJ12node. This software will use your connection to crawl for data and send it back to main server where it will be indexed and made available for actual searches. You will need to have unmetered broadband connection (you can limit the amount of bandwidth to be used), reasonably fast CPU (Pentium-II 400 Mhz+ or better) and 256Mb of RAM. Actual usage of memory depends on your settings, with default ones resulting in 50-60Mb usage at any time.

WARNING: this application will use lots of bandwidth (though you can configure how much and stop using it at anytime), do NOT use it unless you have an unlimited broadband connection!

Win32 (Windows 2000, XP, Vista)	.NET 2.0 build (highly recommended) - works on 64-bit Vista/Longhorn 1. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET v2.0 installed. 2. Now actual MJ12node v1.6.1 released 22/04/08, choose either: a) Installer: you can either open when prompted or double click after download to start install process, or b) ZIP archive: ideal for upgrades, simply unpack into directory, overwrite previous files if necessary If you experience any problems with the current version then you can try previous previous stable build v1.5.0 (extract into folder with your current version and overwrite all files -- configuration and data will not be affected) .NET 1.1 build 1. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET v1.1 installed. If you have not yet done so, then please download it here. 2. Download and install Microsoft .NET v1.1 Service Pack 1 available here. It is critical to get this service pack since it fixed a number of issues related to memory leaks! 3. Linux	1. In order to run client you will need to get Mono from here. It is recommended to use the following version v1.9 of Mono - if you are in trouble please ask in our forum. 2. Download tar ball and unpack using command: tar xzvf mj12node_linux_v161.tgz; cd MJ12node Check README file that contains short instructions on how to run software, if in doubt ask in forum. It is recommended to use run.py batch file to start node.
FreeBSD	1. Same as for Linux, see above. 2. Download tar ball and unpack using command: tar xzvf mj12node_freebsd_v161.tgz; cd MJ12node Check README file that contains short instructions on how to run software, if in doubt ask in forum.

Other OSes?	In theory MJ12node is now portable to any platform supported by Mono, but this will only happen if you care to provide help in testing node on your platform. Please enquire in forum.

MJ12agent is a standalone light-weight utility that allows to control MJ12node run on a separate computer. The utility is designed to run on your desktop computer(s) to detect if you actually work on it. It enables remote node to activate correct profile to use as much of your network bandwidth as you wish it to. This tool is designed for the Windows platform, however it can be used to control nodes run on all supported platforms. MJ12agent works with MJ12node's v1.0.5 or higher.
